Wedding Design

Wedding Design

My most recent creative project was designing and planning my wedding of Aug. 24th 2019.
The process (for me) was easy, fun and full of creative inspiration. I’m proud of every decision that was made during this process.

The below images are the final execution that perfectly reflects my vision:

The Venue

Venue searching was probably the most frustrating part of the wedding plan because it had to be booked before the vision could be created. Hawk’s View was the second venue I looked at, and by destiny — fell in love.

I had three priorities of what I was looking for in a venue, and Hawks View exactly what I was looking for:

Banquet Hall

Banquet Hall

  • A Ceremony & Reception in one Room

Ideally, I wanted the ceremony & Reception in one room — where after the ceremony, the venue would set up the dinner tables for the reception. The reasoning for this is because I wanted lights for both the ceremony & reception and didn’t want to inconvenience the lighting company to set up 2 trusts.

Realistically, the Hawks View was able to accomplish an outdoor ceremony on a well-cover terrace — which I didn’t mind — and had the dinner area prepared in the banquet hall. I had both the hall and the terrace all night.

  • On-site Area for Bridal Party Photos

This was a big one — traveling offsite for during an hour long cocktail hour would exasperate more stress of traveling and limited time for photography. I did not want to do that, but wanted gorgeous photos — and of course, this place had a gorgeous garden for just that!

  • Away from the City

I’m not a fan of traffic, crowds, and … the city itself. I find my peace of mind and inner happiness when I’m out in nature — the forest, fields, prairie — the country side. When choosing a venue, I knew it had to be somewhere that wouldn’t cause me any stress on the day of. My favorite part about this venue was the woodland interior that brought a little bit a nature to the inside.

The Theme & Invitations Design

The theme for the wedding is “Concert in the Forest” which is inspired off my three favorites:

  • Fantasy (Dragons, Faeries & Glitter)

  • Nature (Forest, Moss & Mushrooms)

  • Concerts (Neon Colors, LED’s & Smoke Machine!)

The current trend of wedding invitations of various fonts on neutral paper just wouldn’t work for me. It had to be something personal and in my style — loud, bright, and illustrates meaning like book cover or movie poster. I know most people don’t keep invitations, but I wanted to invite them with a small token of my art: Come to a wedding in the forest, stay for the concert to follow.

Centerpieces

Centerpieces for the tables were 8”w x 2” h tree discs (repurposed from one of the recent fallens in the backyard) and then a collection of items that lit up. Eight of the centerpieces were LED mushroom globes while the others were illuminated faerie houses and lawn ornaments. I also had an assortment of mystical pine cones and crystals.

Wedding Photographer

Okay, I didn’t actually shop for a photographer. I fell in love with Front Room Photography while I was applying for careers back in 2011 and followed their facebook ever since. I choose them before I even met my husband.

But, that’s not to say I haven’t seen previous portfolios of other photographers — I saw dozens during college, work displayed at expos, and photos from my friends and relatives weddings.

Some are good, some are greater — but I’ve not seen anything remotely close to the vibrant colors, creative ideas and positive coordination that I have seen and received from Front Room. This wedding was an artistic masterpiece, and Front Room captured the atmosphere of my vision as well as all the details of my hard efforts.

I look back at these photos for the memories as well as the accomplishment of my creation.

True Show Production

True Show Productions is a sound and lighting company booked by both local and national bands.

Usually, the wedding planner books the band, and the band books True Show for a guarantee that they have both a well-sounded performance and a really cool show.

Handmade with pink & blue LED roses.

The “Guest Book”

Instead of a “Guest Book” I decided to go with T-shirt signing. Below is the drawing that I vectorized for screen printed. The design represents the union of both my wedding (if it was a concert T) and the relationship I have with my significant.
